Pensioners' Benefits

Pensioners' Benefits

£millions worth of pensioners’ benefits go unclaimed every year. Attendance allowance (AA) is the main benefit people don’t claim.  The name doesn’t help. You don’t actually have to have somebody looking after you to qualify.  The test is about help that’s reasonably required.  So if you’re struggling, but have no intention of accepting help, you could still qualify. And the great news is that it’s not means-tested. Getting AA can also help you get more of other benefits. You can check your benefits here courtesy of Age UK.  If you are approaching pension age and getting Personal Independence Payment (PIP) that does not include the mobility component the opportunity to get it disappears when you reach pension age.  So if you think you might be entitled to PIP mobility and are approaching state pension age get advice now.
